The Art Gallery 2

This page is where I simply play. Some serious art, mostly watercolors, but other items just to see and perhaps smile at. In the seriousness of every day life, much less the world of art, I find I need to try something different from time to time. It gives one a different perspective and clears the fog from the mind. So here you will see watercolors, photography, Photographic stories, sketches, computer drawings, and whatever else I can find to bring a different view of art to you. If you see something you like, but it's already sold, let me know. I don't do exact duplicates except for prints, but I would be glad to work something similar. Your friend, Millie Carrée

Sketching is not one of my regular pastimes. This drawing was an online project for a friend. It is available, however, as a print.
I sketch for most of my paintings, but they are only quick, "where is it going to be", sketches or "what shape is that animal"!
I hope you enjoy this look into a past of luxury and flair.

"Mother and Daughter", 10" x 8" watercolor by artist Millie Carree. This whimsical painting of two (actually three!) black tailed prairie dogs, cuddled together, is very true to life - many of their actions very human like. Considered pests by ranchers (and they are, for their holes can break an animals leg), still I enjoy watching their antics here near us where they are protected - being a source of food for the great Bald Eagles that nest nearby.

Rare albino mule deer photographed by Millie Carree                    Albino Mule Deer

Sadly, this is the only albino deer I have personally seen. He was shot and killed by a hunter who wanted the ultimate deer kill, I suppose. I don't understand. Don't try to. I know the necessity, sometimes, of killing for food, but that's not what this was. This beautiful, dreadfully rare animal was shot for sport.
I found it "proudly" on display in a hardware store in Gillette, Wyoming. A rancher friend near Oshoto, whom I've known all my life, said it was shot on his property without his permission but couldn't prove it. He was furious. But there was more than one albino, he said. So hopefully, more will live on. Millie
